''Blood to blood and soul to soul, together this was done, and only together can it be undone. Be the bridge, be the light. When iron melts, when flowers spring from fields of blood—let the land be witness, and return home.

Manon Blackbeak reciting Rhiannon's curse - Empire of Storms

Rhiannon Crochan was the last Queen of the Crochan Witches, and the one who cursed the Witch Kingdom.

Thousands of years before the Witch Wars Rhiannon helped Brannon Galathynius and Mala Fire-Bringer cast the goddess’s essence into forging The Lock in the hopes to finally defeat the Valg. Then again after Elena used the Lock to seal away Erawan, Rhiannon helped Elena and Gavin Havilliard forge the Witch Mirror to contain memories of events to help the future fire-wielding heir of Mala to understand how things came to be. After the deaths of Elena and Gavin, Rhiannon gave Brannon the metal he used to make Mort.

The Crochan Queen was the Queen of the Witch Kingdom and all witches until the Ironteeth Clans rose against her. Five hundred years prior to Throne of Glass the Ironteeth Clans allied themselves and battled against the Crochan witches and the Queen in a bloody battle. Rhiannon Crochan held the gates to her city for three days and three nights against the three Ironteeth Matrons. Her sisters were dead around her, her children slaughtered; her consort spiked to one of the Ironteeth war caravans. The last Crochan Queen, the final hope of their thousand-year dynasty did not go gently.

It was only when Rhiannon fell at dawn on the fourth day that the city was truly lost. And as she lay dying on the killing field, as the Ironteeth ripped down the walls of the city around her and butchered her people, she cursed the three Matrons, and through them, all Ironteeth, so that the Ironteeth may win the war but they would never win the land.

Empire of Storms

Manon Blackbeak and Aelin Galathynius watch flashbacks from the Witch Mirror and see a memory of Rhiannon explaining to Elena and Gavin how the mirror works, and how it will contain memories. Aelin notes in surprise that Rhiannon looks exactly like Manon, and Manon simply stares at Rhiannon.

Rhiannon is again seen in another flashback where she gives metal to Brannon, which he uses to forge Mort. They are in the tomb that Brannon is building for Elena and Gavin Havilliard; Rhiannon brushes a hand over Brannon's cheek before she leaves the tomb. She is not present when he hides the second Wyrdkey in Elena's crown.

Rhiannon was a very dedicated and courageous ruler who fought alongside the Crochans in the Witch Wars to protect her people instead of staying on the sidelines. She was also shown to have a cunning and vengeful side when she cursed the Witch Kingdom with her dying breath to deny the Ironteeth her lands.
