Hello, so, I was thinking of opening up a mod Application thread on Discussions to see who are interested in the job and suitable for it at the same time who could moderate the discussion after me. Ik, it's usually done when a GDM is about to close his assignment but I'm thinking of opening up the thread much before I actually depart from this board. This would basically give the interested users a chance to show that they are suitable for the position. I would on your consent choose the mod after the end of this month. This month, I would be observing the users who shows interest in modship. It will give us some time to make the fair judgement. Lemme know if it's okay with you. (P.S- Though I must agree I would be on the board even after I close my assignment or would be interested in local moderatorship as well. xD)
I edited the page to include an updated description and a picture of him that shows him as a person of color, rather than the more popular art which shows him as white. I would really appreciate it if these changes stayed. The changes I made accurately reflect canon. Prior to the edits I made, the wiki showed him as being described as "tan." This is just not correct- nowhere in these books is his skin described as tan. It's described as bronze, brown, and golden-brown. The post I linked shows all of this.
There are so few characters of color in SJM's books, we really shouldn't be white washing the ones we have.
Hi there! Thanks for pointing out that discrepancy in our article, it will be edited to reflect the twins' true appearance.
At the moment I see your edits were reverted by another user, but please do not mistake that for refusal to acknowledge the characters' race. In my understanding it was simply because the new information was not integrated into the article as smoothly as we strive for.
I see that you did a lot of work researching the matter, but might I ask you to provide the chapter numbers for each instance of his description? It is better practice to reference the source material (being the books themselves) than a second hand source.
Wow. Talk about an abuse of power! Can you back it up that its coming out in 2020? No? Nothing? Guess you couldn't face that you were proven wrong and just had to force people out from this Wikia. Try again!
Putting aside the fact that you are being incredibly rude and confrontational, like the person who edited the WoToG page, let me explain some things to you.
It is not an abuse of power to temporarily lock a page to prevent edit conflicts with other users. This is done on many other wikis, by other admins. I understand that without proper context the 2020 release date looks like it was pulled from thin air, but multiple people who have attended Sarah's tours have confirmed that she, and Lynette Noni, mentioned 2020 when asked about WoToG. I can't reference things said on tour, though I have been trying to find videos or transcripts.
Have you taken a look at Bloomsbury, lately? WoToG is missing from their catalogue. There is so little information about this book available, not even a cover has been revealed. The odds of it coming out in the next week are incredibly low. Embers of Memory gets more attention, and it's a card game. Crescent City has regular updates, and it's only coming out next year. Kingdom of Ash had a cover three months before its release. We don't have one, and WoToG is supposed to be released in five days? Doesn't that tell you something?
But anyway, this will all be cleared up when October 1st comes and goes and WoToG isn't there. Hopefully Bloomsbury or Sarah will make an announcement once people start demanding answers for why it isn't available. If, against all odds, it arrives, then I will gladly change the page to reflect that. Either way the page will be unlocked then.
As for your comments, I did not force anyone out, nor was I proven wrong. Zanda21 is still welcome to edit on the wiki. They haven't been blocked. But I dont appreciate being called out for trying to provide information, especially not by someone who has been blocked on at least one other wiki for personal attacks and a terrible attitude. So please don't think that continued arguments are going to lead to anything but a block for you, Zanda21 and Jeremy2121. If you would like to discuss the situation civilly, then I don't mind.
You say temporarily but you locked it indefinitely. You call me rude and the lie to my face. So, you're admitting you have nothing to back up the 2020 date. Keep making stuff up! I'm looking forward to me preordered copy next week!
Just because the protection setting says infinite, does not mean I will actually leave it locked forever. So kindly refrain from making claims that I am lying. I'm not. I have provided you with an explanation for where I got the 2020 release date. The author herself has even stated in an April newsletter that she needs more time to work on it and will update us with a new release date in the future.
Believe me, if WoToG arrives next week no one will be happier than me.
I look forward to its unlock so we can all update it then. No reason for the 2020 date, user literally cannot pull up a single source that states 2020, entirely original research and personal thoughts.
I'm a member of GDM team and recently was scrolling through discussion here and found a lot of off topic threads on here. I was wondering if you need GDM help to moderate the discussion. We are more than willing to help only if you allow. Let me know and we can create a ticket for this wiki.
Hey there! I am only halfway through the book series but looking for a place to discuss what i've read so far and connect with people. But I dont want to be spoiled. Do you have any tips for me on how to navigate this wiki? Or should I just avoid it because there isn't a good way to avoid being spoiled? Thanks!
Unfortunately there is no safe way to navigate the wiki. (Most) Pages are updated with the latest book release information by now. If you want to talk to other funs the Discussions chat would be your best bet, but even so I can't guarantee that people won't spoil you by accident.
I was looking at pages on the wiki when I can across one called Wind-Cleaver, I saw that there wasn't much on the page... so I searched it in the search bar. But there turns out to be two pages of the same thing.
Basically just filling in information from the books on stubby pages would be helpful. It doesn't have to look pretty, I can always neaten it up but it's a lot easier than having to search through every book myself for info on a given character/location at a time.
Hey. If you're going to upload images please name them correctly, don't just leave them as random numbers etc. Also, please make sure to credit the artist and be sure that the image you are using is actually related to the series, and not fanart or a drawing for something else. I have deleted the images you uploaded recently.
And please don't add any more new categories. "Legions" is not necessary when "Groups" already exists.
That would be amazing, thank you! I'd love to help out :) It will be much easier to keep CC Wiki updated from the start than after 3-4 books have already been released lol.
There was actually an idea I wanted to run by you... What would you think about merging all the sjm wikis in the future into one for all her series? Similar to the Riordan Wiki? Seen as how ToG and ACOTAR have so far been said to exist in more-or-less the same Multiverse. Let me know how it sounds to you, it's just something I've been thinking about for a while 😅
I'm not too sure about exactly when to do it. Both the ToG and ACOTAR Wikis need some serious updates, so maybe it would be better to stay separate for now and look after CC Wiki from the first book's release? That might give me enough time to spruce things up.
