Mala Fire-Bringer

Please help me understand -- why didn't Brannon banish Erawan and close the gate? See below

He had the three keys, and he had the lock that had been forged by Mala. During the Nightfall chapter at the beginning of Empire of Storms we learn that his fire power is fading, he is fading, but the fire power was needed for forging the lock and Mala had already sacrificed herself for that. Aelin did use some of her power to close the gates, but most of it was in forging the lock, so I really don't understand why Brannon just hung around in possession of the lock and keys and didn't take care of banishing erewan and closing the gates himself. Please help me understand because the whole reason Aelin has to sacrifice herself is theoretically because Elena stole the lock from her father, Brannon, and used it to lock Erawan in the tomb at Morarth. But that doesn't explain why they didn't just use the keys and the lock to banish him and close the gate? Is it because he wanted to hold onto the keys so that he could use them, and if so why didn't he use them to defeat Erawan some other way? It seems like such a big major plot hole to me.

Need help here- still hung up on this after reading all the books.

From my conclusion: Mora, Mala, Mab (Deanna) and Mauve (fake) are all sisters.

Mab: deeana (lady of the hunt) and connected to Aelin moms side (the mom also gave her water magic too) rival and sister to Mala

Mala: light and learning and fire.. Aelin has this bc she technically her great great.. aunt?

Mora: Rowan's bloodline..

Mauve: obvi not really a sis.

But I thought there was only three.

Someone explain to me how Mala fits into this..

Basically celaena accepting herself as aelin, and rowan helping her achieve that. :) Also I have no idea what category to post this in.

So my friend is reading ToG for the first time (she's on the beginning of QoS) and she had some questions that I didn't remember the answers to, so I thought I'd ask them here. Oh yeah and spoilers below I think!

1. So Brannon was mated with Mala and they had Elena. Was Brannon full Fae?

2. Are the three sisters (although maeves valg) Mab, Mora, and Maeve? Is Aelin's mom the one who was related to Mab?

3. Was Aelin born Fae and she can shift into human or was she born human and can shift into Fae? Can all demi-Fae shift from human to Fae, or was that just funny coincidence for Aelin?

4. My friend thinks that it's gross that Aelin and Rowan might have a thing at this point in the books because they're cousins. I tried to tell her that they were very very distant cousins, but is there something else I should say?

5. Do all humans that have magic have to be descended from Fae? (this was from me, I'm thinking like Yrene, does she have Fae ancestors?)

6. How does Aelin have such powerful powers? She isn't full Fae. Is it the thing about how all the "ancient players are returning to the game" and about forging the lock?

7. This one's from me too, cause she's not here yet. How did Dorian give his magic to Yrene at the end of KoA? I don't think they're carranam, because I don't think they exchanged a single word in that entire book. Is Dorian's rules different because he has like wild, unshaped magic?

Is it just me or do you also think that more deities should be in it?
