Please help me understand -- why didn't Brannon banish Erawan and close the gate? See below

He had the three keys, and he had the lock that had been forged by Mala. During the Nightfall chapter at the beginning of Empire of Storms we learn that his fire power is fading, he is fading, but the fire power was needed for forging the lock and Mala had already sacrificed herself for that. Aelin did use some of her power to close the gates, but most of it was in forging the lock, so I really don't understand why Brannon just hung around in possession of the lock and keys and didn't take care of banishing erewan and closing the gates himself. Please help me understand because the whole reason Aelin has to sacrifice herself is theoretically because Elena stole the lock from her father, Brannon, and used it to lock Erawan in the tomb at Morarth. But that doesn't explain why they didn't just use the keys and the lock to banish him and close the gate? Is it because he wanted to hold onto the keys so that he could use them, and if so why didn't he use them to defeat Erawan some other way? It seems like such a big major plot hole to me.

So after finishing Heir of Fire (which was not bad at all), I was thinking of a song that seems like it would be a perfect fit for the book.

The song is called Burn It Down by Daughter and it actually goes along quite well with Celaena’s pyrokenetic (hopefully I spelled that right) abilities as well as Heir of Fire itself.

I'm learning HTML and CSS rn and one of the assignments was to write a poem using some of the HTML tags we'd learned so far. The poem I wrote turned out to be a lot longer than I expected yet I'm not rly satisfied with it because I know I could've made it sooo much better and added soo much more detail if only I had more time. I tried writing the whole thing out in haikus but that was wayyyy too time consuming and it didn't allow me to put in some important parts so I abandonded that (tho you can still see some haikus in the poem which i didn't change) But anyways here it is:

Like I said before, the wording is kinda repetitive and there's so many details I wish I could've added (not just from the story too actually-I wanted to add some CSS style elements too but the thing I was coding on didn't have an option for it) but I wanted to share this with you guys anyways

Am I the only one who imagined Aelin in the beginning of HoF like a pirate? This picture came into my head right after I started reading... I mean: She just sailed across an ocean and she lived on this bread thing and wine. Not very plausible but... Tell me it isn't just me😂

I have read all tog for the first time this year and I absolutely loved it!!! To the point; I can’t remember when (in which book) everything happens, so if you could give me a short resumé on CoM, HoF, QoS, EoS or so it would be really appreciated!!

1. In which book does aelin go to Wendlyn and meet Rowan?

2. In which book does they go to doranelle?

3. When does Aelin go back to rifthold?

4. When does she shatter the glass castle?

5. Is it in QoS she goes back to Orynth or is it in EoS?

6. When is kaltains suicide?

7. What is happening in QoS?

I'm about to finish Crown Of Midnight and some say after Heir Of Fire comes Assassins Blade and others say I should read it after Queen of Shadows and now I don't know what to do.

So, in what order should I read the Throne of glass series? Or did you guys make a mistake I should avoid?

I know it's a been some time but anyways, i have been meaning to make this post since a while now...

So now that I completed both Tog and Acotar, I can't help but think of this... There are plenty of similarities btwn Aelin and Nesta... Allow me to Explain...

1. Nesta's journey/story in Acosf was a lot like Aelin's in hof. Aelin also thought that she had failed many ppl ( her kingdom, Nehemia, Sam ) and so did Nesta, who felt that she had failed her father and sisters too.

2. Both of them had issues to deal with and their mates helped them get better and face everything. Rowan training Aelin and Cassian training Nesta was very similar, both Rowan and Cassian being immortal fae warriors and Aelin and Nesta getting under their skin by refusing to listen to them...

3. Both Aelin and Nesta have their powers related to flame/fire only the Essence of it is different, while Aelin's power is the actual fire, Nesta's power is a colder version. Also Heir of Fire and A Court of Silver Flames... There are a lot of things related to fire/flame here, which basically describes both Aelin and Nesta.

4. Both Aelin and Nesta are stronger/have stronger powers than their mates. Both of them were wanted by others for their power ( Eg: Maeve, Arobynn, Eris, Lanthys ) and bcoz of their whole Personality which screams I'm a Queen ...

5. Both Aelin and Nesta gave up their powers ( Aelin to the gods, Nesta to the Cauldron ) for the greater good and to save lives. They both are less stronger than before but happier.

6. Both Nesta and Aelin believe in female empowerment, Aelin taught Yrene self defence in Tab, and Nesta wanted to train other priestesses so they wouldn't be weak again.... Both Aelin and Nesta also have equally badass friends who r willing to keep their secrets and walk to the ends of the earth for them. ( Lysandra, Gwyn, Emerie )

7. Nesta might be more unpleasant or bitchy than Aelin but Aelin was equally bitter and detached from the world in HOf, Both of them felt that they were undeserving of other's lives and friendship.

8. Aelin striding inside the council hall in Com holding Grave's head and Nesta coming out of the lake holding the Kelpie's head in Oorid... Any similarities ?? Yep definitely, don't mess with Aelin or Nesta, you'll pay for it.

9. Both had to deal with some bitchy queen who held grudges against them ( Maeve : Aelin, Briallyn : Nesta ) and they both handled it perfectly. Also at a point of time, both of their mates had been under the control of these queens and they both managed to free them.

9. Last but not the least, idk if this matters really but- both Aelin and Nesta love to read books (smutty ones are preferred) and love chocolate. Their true naughty but relaxed nature can be seen with their friends.

10. Both Aelin and Nesta love and appreciate music, they are often portrayed as ' losing themselves in music '. Aelin plays the piano and Nesta is a dancer but their taste for good music is common.

..... And I mostly thought that Aelin is like Rhysand but now .....

There are many differences too, Aelin is sassier, she uses her humour and sarcasm and Nesta dealt with a lot of issues but... Yeah sometimes i think if Nesta's Personality was largely based on Aelin and her journey through Hof ...
