Erawan

Please help me understand -- why didn't Brannon banish Erawan and close the gate? See below

He had the three keys, and he had the lock that had been forged by Mala. During the Nightfall chapter at the beginning of Empire of Storms we learn that his fire power is fading, he is fading, but the fire power was needed for forging the lock and Mala had already sacrificed herself for that. Aelin did use some of her power to close the gates, but most of it was in forging the lock, so I really don't understand why Brannon just hung around in possession of the lock and keys and didn't take care of banishing erewan and closing the gates himself. Please help me understand because the whole reason Aelin has to sacrifice herself is theoretically because Elena stole the lock from her father, Brannon, and used it to lock Erawan in the tomb at Morarth. But that doesn't explain why they didn't just use the keys and the lock to banish him and close the gate? Is it because he wanted to hold onto the keys so that he could use them, and if so why didn't he use them to defeat Erawan some other way? It seems like such a big major plot hole to me.

Defiantly the best book of the series, this book was a masterpiece. A great ending to an insane series, the death of the thirteen was so poetic. They got the deaths they deserved and had been anticipated by me but it still hit me, it was really well written. The death of Erawan and Maeve were great too but my favourite part was the punishment Rowan exacted to Cairn for harming his mate. All in all a great book that I cherished every moment of!

I’d choose the fourth house bc Erawan would be dead in seconds and I’d love to spend some time with Dorian, Cass, and Fenrys. And omg Hasar and Nesryn would be great company too. Lol Helion would just be hitting on everyone and Lehabah (she’s from CC for those who haven’t read it yet) would be complaining abt how she’s so alone

You know, poor Erawan get's so much hate. I feel for him. Mans deserve the world.

So I already made a post about this, but ima dig deeper because @Housewhitethorn123 made a very good point.

So as I said before Erawan is actually ok. Like we stan the man. Sure he is a killer, but he had his reasons and the reasons were kinda sweet. His wanted to find his brothers because he did feel love and he missed them.

So I hear people saying, "Oh I feel so bad for Aelin like Erawan is so horrible for trying to destroy the world for his brothers."

Some realisation for you:

Erawan loves his brothers. He did what he did for them because he loves them. Aelin once threatened the whole of Doranelle for Rowan because she loved him. Like that makes them similiar in that regard. They did the same thing, even though Aelin didn't go through with it, she was still willing to do it.

So #westanerawan.

So during the whole series of Tog, I have had this thought. You know I like erawan, respect him, pity him, envy him. And here are my reasons why:

1. He had a purpose for causing the war. And the reason is kinder than the other villains you read about.

2. He just wanted to see his brothers again. Like he loved them, missed them and he was taken away from them. Yes he killed a lot of people, but like you gotta pity the man.

3. He seemed a whole lot nicer and kinda civil compared to other villains. Like when Aelin was talking to him in Onyrth, he was like civil and didn't swear, threaten, like be a b!tch. Like yes.

4. He was even nice to like Vernon and let him ask questions and didn't kill him when Dorian pretended to be Vernon. So he is kinda nice.

This is probably the only villain I have liked tbh. #Erawanisn'tthatbad
