Please help me understand -- why didn't Brannon banish Erawan and close the gate? See below

He had the three keys, and he had the lock that had been forged by Mala. During the Nightfall chapter at the beginning of Empire of Storms we learn that his fire power is fading, he is fading, but the fire power was needed for forging the lock and Mala had already sacrificed herself for that. Aelin did use some of her power to close the gates, but most of it was in forging the lock, so I really don't understand why Brannon just hung around in possession of the lock and keys and didn't take care of banishing erewan and closing the gates himself. Please help me understand because the whole reason Aelin has to sacrifice herself is theoretically because Elena stole the lock from her father, Brannon, and used it to lock Erawan in the tomb at Morarth. But that doesn't explain why they didn't just use the keys and the lock to banish him and close the gate? Is it because he wanted to hold onto the keys so that he could use them, and if so why didn't he use them to defeat Erawan some other way? It seems like such a big major plot hole to me.

Hey, so I'm rather new to this whole fandom-share-your-thoughts-thing, but I'm currently on my 3rd reread of the series and I NEED to talk to someone about how emotional this series makes me feel. (So I came here, since I don't know of any other tog-fandom-chats).

I'm currently at the near end of EoS/ToD (doing a tandem read) and even though I know exactly what happens, it still gets me every time.

The writing, the unraveling of the story, the way everything comes together is just so devestating but at the same time so beautiful.

I literally had to take a break because my heart is pounding so fast that I can't continue on reading hahaha

Please tell me I'm not alone with this, that I'm not the only one crying through this series no matter how often I open the books anew and still think about it, even when I long finished reading.

Which scenes invoke that feeling in you?

For me it's currently the moment in EoS, when Aelin and Manon enter the mirror and finally learn which price has to be paid

Like not just deaths but the way something happens.

I’d change the dramaticness of EoS’s ending. Like instead of Aelin hiding her plans (which ends up in Lorcan summoning Maeve and the whole iron box thing and all the sadness that is KoA 😭) she at least tells the group “trust me I’ve got this all figured out it’s gonna look like I don’t but I do”

Also sorry if I am posting a lot.

I really enjoyed this book a lot. It was fun and exciting (as all the installments seem to be) and I’m still giving it five stars though.

However, there are two things that I didn’t really like about the book (everything else was fine and I loved how Lorcan got chewed out by Elide after he sold out Aelin to Maeve).

1. Maybe it’s just me but Weylan Darrow (hope I spelled his name right) seemed kind of useless in this book. I didn’t quite understand what his purpose is supposed to be here (I might find out more in Kingdom of Ash but for now, he seemed like a pointless character).

2. The confrontation between Aelin and Maeve, I was a little bit disappointed with. I still loved how Aelin planned ahead and the protagonists still got their armies but the way the confrontation unfolded…felt (not sure how else to say this) lackluster, in a way.

However, aside from those two things, there was still plenty of good things to outweigh the bad and Tower of Dawn is so far another excellent addition to this fantastic series.

This is them and you can’t convince me otherwise 😂😂😂

Hey, can someone please tell me what the 2 parts of EoS were titled? I read it in my native language, which isn't English, and I'm curious. I know part 1 should be "Firebringer" and part 2 should be something like "Fireheart or Firehearted girl"?

So I’m doing this survival themed project in Lit and basically you can choose from 5 different options: a brochure, podcast, diary, writing a historical fiction chapter, and something else I can’t remember. I was having trouble figuring out a topic to do for the historical fiction chapter yesterday so my brother came up to me and said “why don’t you just do a diary entry on reading EoS? Since you said it was sooo painful” and I cracked up 😂 I WISH I could do that surviving EoS’ ending was no easy thing but I don’t think my teacher would let me 😂😂😂

I just realized something: We all could have know eos would end horrible, because Aelin being captured by Maeve almost got her killed and Eos is short for end of storie in whatsapp.

I'm learning HTML and CSS rn and one of the assignments was to write a poem using some of the HTML tags we'd learned so far. The poem I wrote turned out to be a lot longer than I expected yet I'm not rly satisfied with it because I know I could've made it sooo much better and added soo much more detail if only I had more time. I tried writing the whole thing out in haikus but that was wayyyy too time consuming and it didn't allow me to put in some important parts so I abandonded that (tho you can still see some haikus in the poem which i didn't change) But anyways here it is:
